DJ, producer, activist and entrepreneur BLOND:ISH released her newest single “Higher” last month, and it’s pure, unadulterated fun. The track served as one of the most rapturous moments in her live sets and Abracadabra parties over the last year, and it’s thankfully on streaming platforms for the world to enjoy.
The track’s staccato string section set a bright tone for the entire track, and the rising synth hits that underscore the popping drums of the song add an extra bit of movement that makes “Higher” feel especially light and playful.
“Higher” marks the tipping point of anticipation for her sophomore album, Never Walk Alone, which is set to release on February 14 via Insomnia Records. Choosing this track as the final single before an album releasing on Valentine’s Day couldn’t possibly be more fitting, as the track’s repetition of the phrase “you take me higher, baby” over its infectious production.
BLOND:ISH announced in December that a special BioVinyl would release for the forthcoming studio album. A BioVinyl is just another step in her career-spanning mission to eliminate plastic from the music industry, as these records utilize a recyclable material that is identical in quality to conventional pressing. These records, along with the DJ’s foundation Bye Bye Plastic, send a powerful message to the rest of the music industry, which heavily relies on fossil fuels to create vinyl records.
Along with the new album and its environmentally conscious physical release, BLOND:ISH has a slew of tour dates that are sure to impress in 2025. Tickets for shows, merch, and more information on Bye Bye Plastic can be found at the DJ’s official website. Her upcoming album Never Walk Along is sure to showcase the overwhelmingly joyful energy that tracks like “Higher” bring to listeners, so make sure you stream her newest single to make the wait more bearable!
