Ava Valianti Talks Self-Doubt in Sitcom-Inspired New Single “Laugh Track”

Ava Valianti feels like she’s living in a sitcom. In “Laugh Track,” released today, Ava Valianti wrestles with her self-worth. When it feels like all eyes are on her, she worries whether she’s enough for her imagined audience.

I wrote Laugh Track as a way to process the feeling of always being ‘on’ – like I’m performing even when no one’s watching. I’ve always had this weird sense that my life is being observed, like I’m in some kind of TV show where my mistakes are the punchline. This song is me stepping back and asking, ‘Am I in control of my own story, or am I just playing a part?’

“Laugh Track” is a reminder we aren’t alone in our insecurities but rather that we should be the truest versions of ourselves without catering toward a make-believe camera. Valianti brings media references that pack a punch, like The Truman Show and How I Met Your Mother’s Ted Mosby.

My whole life’s the punchline, that’s how it’s starting to feel

My favorite movie’s Truman Show and isn’t that ideal

Cause I always pretend cameras lurk

Whenever I make a wrong turn

Valianti brings clarity both in her sweet vocal tone and poignant lyricism. A touch of folksy influence deepens an otherwise indie pop feel. The singer-songwriter, only 15 years old, is already making waves in the music scene.

After recent releases like “Wishing Well,” as well as her 2023 debut “Bubble Wrap” and other singles like “January” and “Middle Ground,” more is on the way from this rising star. Now, fans can look forward to Valianti’s debut EP, coming soon.
