On October 22, Today, GRAMMY-nominated producer and dance artist Alesso and Marshmello share the stripped version of their recent single “Chasing Stars” which featured James Bay and was released via Astralwerks. The song premiered alongside a music video featuring a dream-like VHS-inspired aesthetic with James Bay himself performing the breathlessly-intimate version of the song, a complete 180 from the original mind-bending sci-fi visuals of the original music video.

The stripped version of the song veers off in a completely different direction than the original track’s vision, departing from driving beats and soaring synths to instead bring the formerly passionate single into a soulful simmer. With James’ tender vocals and intricate guitar work serving as his sole backing instrumental, the song becomes a thoughtful reflection on pining nostalgia and memory.

James Bay, hailing from the UK, is an innovative singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer who confidently challenges himself and popular music. His 2015 debut track, “Chaos and the Calm,” is platinum certified, and he has earned Grammy nominations in categories such as Best New Artist, Best Rock Album, and Best Rock Song for many of his tracks.

Swedish native Alesso has been hailed as “a global maverick in the dance world,” having surpassed international boundaries by collaborating with wide-ranging artists such as Calvin Harris, Hailee Steinfeld, Florida Georgia Line,Tove Lo, Anitta, and more.

Famously masked artist Marshmello’s superstardom continues to soar. Having clocked an astonishing 10.5 billion streams and almost 45 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, he’s one of the top 30 most streamed artists in the world on Spotify and the third-most-subscribed artist on YouTube.
