In preparation for her forthcoming debut LP to be released later this year, the Houston-born bilingual singer-songwriter, Alaina Castillo, releases her new single, “Indica.” The sultry pop song alludes to the feeling of an intoxicating love and celebrates the culture behind the strain of weed known for its relaxing and therapeutic properties. Not only does Castillo’s unique sound present a creative spin on Indica, but the song carries weight in its ability to drive listeners to a similar state as the strain itself.
“’indica’ is about escaping into an alternate reality. I want it to be a reset button that puts you in a different universe once you’ve listened to it,” says Alaina.

To commemorate the release of “indica,” Alaina premiered the song for Grammy.com’s Press Play series (see below) and participated in MTV’s Instagram Live Jam Sessions. After earning the name of Billboard’s latest Latin Artist to Watch, the fast-rising pop star will also make her award show debut at the 2021 Latin American Music Awards (April 15, 2021).
Tune in on March 31st to see the official music video, and don’t forget to check out the song “indica” available now on Spotify.
