It’s October once again! I know for most people that means putting on a sweater and beanie and wandering through a pumpkin patch. But here in Sacramento? That means another weekend of sweating in a hot dusty park, thrashing to our favorite breakdowns at AFTERSHOCK 2026. While we’re here to see all the biggest, best, and up-and-coming bands in the Rock World, they have also graced us with some cool new experiences and ways to enjoy this music. One of those is a new FIFTH STAGE, which they are calling The Point.
Positioned at the meeting of two rivers, The Point Stage is a chill, relaxing island, separated by the Jibboom Bridge from the rest of the stages. You can even see the rivers through the fences. In this isolated zone you can also find its own food stand area, bar services, various other experiences. Also, an entire sports bar?
Overtime Sports Bar is a fully functional sports bar in the middle of the festival. They have a plethora of TVs playing whatever live sports are on at the time. This is going to be the perfect place to be for NFL Sunday and Sunday Night Football. They have flags and jerseys of every local sports team, the Kings and the Niners, the As and Giants and Rivercats, even the local university teams of Sacramento State and UC Davis. Patrons get to eat and drink at tables while enjoying the show. They feature fresh draft poured beer from Stone Brewing, a California brewing company. They will even be doing an exclusive Pierce the Veil themed beer on Saturday, available at any bar around the festival. So keep an eye out for that.
For the musical entertainment, they did not hold back. The first day alone we saw Red, Apocalyptica, Nothing More, and The Pretty Reckless. Upcoming, we’ll see Underoath and Coheed and Cambria on Friday. Saturday will have Pentagram, Melvins, and Black Label Society. If you hang out at The Point for Sunday football, you get to also watch Suicidal Tendencies and Body Count with Ice-T.
We’ve enjoyed chilling at The Point today, and we’ll be returning throughout the weekend for the beer, the sports, and some of our favorite bands. But the rest of the festival does not disappoint either, and we will be exploring and checking out some of the other cool new experiences and features that Aftershock has added this year. So check it out tomorrow for more!
