On March 11, 2025, Poppy kicked off her “They’re All Around Us” tour with a sold-out show at San Francisco’s iconic The Fillmore. The multifaceted artist is soaring in the scene for genre-defying music and captivating performances. This tour marks a significant milestone in Poppy’s career, blending elements of her old YouTube days of pop sound and her newer metal core era to create a unique sound that’s one of her own.

The Fillmore’s historic venue buzzed with anticipation as fans of all ages gathered for the concert. Attendees showcased their dedication through attire featuring dark makeup looks. Fishnets, spiked accessories, a variety of Poppy merchandise, and even a sprinkling of Knocked Loose merch (nodding to her Grammy-nominated performance with them) represented the many times she’s evolved in the last few years. The crowd’s diversity highlighted Poppy’s broad appeal, uniting college age newbies, seasoned metal enthusiasts, and everyone in between.

But before Poppy could take to stage, she had Seattle based duo Chinese American Bear take the stage.

They warmed up the crowd with their warm and fun c-pop music. The band’s set featured tracks from their latest EP, “Dim Sum (点心),” including crowd favorites like “Kids Go Down (孩子们的时光)” and “Magic Number (魔法数字).” Before they played “Feelin’ Fuzzy (毛茸茸的感觉)” the singer, Anne Tong, taught the crowd a few phrases in Chinese to chant along with the band.

Poppy took the stage in a striking ensemble.

She wore a deep red, floor-length military-style jacket with gold embroidery, paired with a short hoop layered skirt. Her commanding presence was immediately felt. She launched into “Have You Had Enough?,” igniting the crowd’s energy.

Her performance seamlessly wove together tracks from her latest album, Negative Spaces. A fan favorite included “BLOODMONEY” from her 2020 album I Disagree resonated powerfully. She also received wide acclaim with new track, “Push Go.” Each track, especially those like “Anything Like Me,” highlighted Poppy’s ability to blend introspective lyrics with aggressive instrumentals. The crowd’s energy was undeniably high. Poppy’s interaction with the audience elevated the crowd’s energy. Throughout the entirety of an evening, push pits radiated through the crowd. Fans even participated in a nearly venue-wide circle pit and wall of death. The fans were eager to follow the sweet commands of Poppy throughout “Bite Your Teeth.”

As the last song came to an end, the crowd began to chant for Poppy and the crowd was greeted with a doll version of her, as seen on her Spotify and Instagram. The doll asked what the crowd was waiting for(an encore) to which she obliged and played two more song, “They’re All Around Us” and “New Way Out”.

After the last song and the crowd began to trickle out, Poppy’s voice spoke one last time from backstage.

Was it real? Or all a dream? I think I liked it.

I would say that we all did, at least we know we did.
