A KID NAMED RUFUS RELEASES THEIR NEW SINGLE “HOW SWEET DOES THIS SOUND?”

Eighteen year old Rufus from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, now based in New York released their newest single “how sweet does this sound?” The new song was the final track released off of rufus’ debut LP whatever work (out July 14) and is third on the overall track list. They originally wrote the song as a joke but after reflecting from their teenage years and college thought it was worth sharing. Rufus explains the overwhelming amount of pressure and anxiety around exploring the nature of sex especially in the beginning of their journey traveling to the United States and in college. “How sweet does this sound?’ is bright and lighthearted simply going through the motions of what it is like to explore the world of human nature. Rufus has a playful feel to their voice keeping a little bit of that “innocence” while the music is almost euphoric with some intensity. Represents all the feels of what it is like being back at the age where you learned about sex.

“The idea behind the song is to normalize the conversations around sex, kink, hooking-up, and all the dirty things that our society (for the most part) still considers taboo.”
