Superstar Sabrina Carpenter brings us the deluxe version of her critically acclaimed album Short n’ Sweet.

The two time GRAMMY award winner Sabrina Carpenter has been on a roll, bringing us an endless stream of anthems. Nowadays, the pop sensation is omnipresent in the charts, amassing an audience of millions worldwide. Travelling the world on her sold out emails i can’t send tour and having supported Taylor Swift herself on her Eras Tour, there is no stopping Sabrina Carpenter. Indeed, she is about to conquer Europe on March 3rd, with her sold-out Short n’ Sweet Tour.

Short n’ Sweet, which was released in August of 2024, marked one of the largest global debuts of the year, owning the top of the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks. It earned Sabrina Carpenter the “Best Pop Vocal Album” award with “Best Pop Solo Performance” for its lead single “Espresso.” Furthermore, she also debuted on the GRAMMY’s stage with a medley of “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” being hailed as pop royalty for it by Harper’s Bazaar,

“If Carpenter was already a rising pop princess before tonight, then her Grammys debut has cemented her status as pop royalty.”

Following the success of Sabrina Carpenter‘s latest album Short n’ Sweet, she returns the hype with Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe). This extended version of the album features five additional songs next to the ones that are on the original album. Alongside tracks such as “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Busy Woman” and “Bad Reviews,” “Please Please Please” shines anew in the deluxe version as a duet with the iconic Dolly Parton.

“15 Minutes” of the bonus tracks on Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe) brings us upbeat vibes with prominent drums and bass. Thematically, the song takes a look at the concept of time, cheekily playing on sexual references. Moreover, it serves as an easter egg in reference to the album itself, since the combined runtime of the bonus tracks amounts to 15 minutes.

What’s more is that the song seems to play on the phrase “15 minutes of fame,” which might be a reference to Carpenter’s explosive rise to fame knowing how fast trends come and go. She sees through all the tricks of the industry, ready to resort to “scandalous” methods to bring the spotlight back on her when her “15 minutes of fame” are over.

“Please Please Please ft. Dolly Parton” is an absolute highlight of the album. The song is the first and only collaboration of the project. It masterfully goes beyond all expectations of just being a normal duet. Having someone as iconic as Dolly Parton requires special methods to make the collaboration live up to the hype.

In true Dolly Parton fashion, the duet goes off the rails and takes on a more country-style mantle. The collaboration was an immediate and roaring success, as it reached the number one spot on the Billboard hot 100. But that is not all. Because it would have been a shame to leave it at a purely auditory collaboration, a music video joined the mix as well. It features Dolly Parton and Sabrina Carpenter in a black and white scene, hitting the road in a vintage pickup truck.

“Couldn’t Make It Any Harder” takes a calmer and sadder tone, giving off ’20s vibes with the heavy vibrato in Carpenter’s voice. It tells the tale of lovers starting to walk different roads and growing emotionally detached from each other. Hence, the tiredness and disappointment in the lyrics suggest that she felt used in a prior relationship, or that it was heavily imbalanced at least. The poignant tone of this track aims right for the heart while keeping its vengeful spirit.

“Busy Woman” once again goes a more upbeat route, exploring the importance of self worth in relationships. In the song, she tackles her struggle with balancing her busy lifestyle as a pop star with paying attention to her partner. Ever packing a jokingly sarcastic punch, Carpenter faces the real possibility of rejection that comes with the danger of business owed neglect. However, she warns this person of the potential consequences such a rejection could have.

“Bad Reviews” takes another lesson out of the good old country book. Carried by acoustic guitars and violins, Carpenter makes a statement about people’s opinions on her relationship. This song takes a very romantic route, assuring her partner that no matter what the public says, she still chooses to love them.
