Global pop-titan and renowned superstar Kesha declares her independence, releasing her new single “JOYRIDE” under her own label, Kesha Records.
Kesha is back and she means business. Following her critically acclaimed, fifth studio album Gag Order, the 2x GRAMMY Award-nominated pop-sensation made a statement by releasing her first single as an independent artist, “JOYRIDE,” on no other date than Independence Day. In a surprise performance at Brooklyn, NY’s sold-out Planet Pride 2024 last week, Kesha debuted her new single to an audience of over 5,000 fans.
An absolute anthem of empowerment and marking the beginning of Kesha’s new era as an independent artist, “JOYRIDE” delivers on its title. The song treats us to carefree summer vibes, telling us to hop in, ride along and just be wild. It starts out with a melody one would expect at a circus, or a funfair, but gives it a catchy EDM-twist, perfectly setting a tone that promises a good time.

Kesha firmly portrays confidence and shows that she is unapologetically herself. She has more than earned the right to take control over her art as an independent artist, after parting ways with her old label.
The vibrant chorus doubles down on the fun-factor, both in terms of melody and lyrics, promising to get stuck in our heads. The wild lyric video only adds on to that. In the background we see a compilation of trucks and SUVs doing burnouts, rolling over and performing other stunts. This emphasizes the idea of a joyride, making it the perfect song to put on in the car, while driving down the highway on a beautiful summer evening.
