Environmentally-focused festival Sacred Acre will return to Alaska for its second annual edition, taking place Friday, September 8 – Sunday, September 10 at the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik.

Backdropped by 40 acres of beautiful wooded campground, Sacred Acre is a three-day, immersive festival experience that combines performances from contemporary bass music icons, stunning laser and digital art stage displays, and an environmentally-focused mission aimed to connect attendees with the natural world around them.

Headliners will be joined by renowned support acts such as; Manic Focus, playing both a solo DJ set and a live band set, dub sound innovator; The Widdler, English electronic duo KOAN Sound; electro-soul virtuoso Maddy O’Neal – playing both a live-hybrid DJ/drum pad set, and a set under her MadHaus alias (her house music alter ego); and blues-inflected electronic producer Marvel Years, playing a solo and trio set with Jason Leech and drummer Colby Buckler.

Other support acts include Artifakts, Late Night Radio, NotLö, Dredlok, Jason Leech, Josh Teed,Motifv, MZG, Phyphr, Slynk, Jason Leech & Phypher Duet, and more.

With a commitment to P-L-U-R culture, Sacred Acre’s foundation is ultimately one of philanthropy and activism. The festival’s environmental mission is to raise awareness around trawling: the practice of factory ships dragging massive nets along the ocean floor, destroying and catching everything in its path including sea animals and precious marine habitats. Sacred Acre uses its platforms to connect, inform, and teach their festival patrons on how to stop active destruction of oceans. The festival will provide a space where organizations and individuals distribute relevant information on trawling and other critical issues facing the ocean, wildlife, and waterways of Alaska. In addition to its education initiatives, the festival is also working towards becoming a zero plastic event by monitoring as much plastic output as possible. All vendors onsite must use recyclable or compostable wares to serve from, and all drinks on site will be served into reusable metal tumbler cups. 

Sacred Acre will also offer an assortment of non-music activities and adventure excursions unique to Alaska, such as Alaskan native plant foraging, underwater spearfishing, glacier helicopter tours, and fly fishing. The festival’s ‘Bumping by the Bay’ cruise will showcase some of Sacred Acre’s top DJs in an extremely exclusive setting. It includes a 3 hour tour of beautiful Kachemak Bay, surrounded by gorgeous cascades of mountains, unique wildlife, and music by Manic Focus, MZG, and Rachel Monae. Onsite, attendees will be able to ground themselves at the Stillwater Reflection Center, where sound healing, breath work, cacao ceremonies, and yoga are held throughout the weekend. At the Stillwater Reflection Center, guests can relax with noise-canceling headphones while lying in soft spaces and consuming hydrating drinks. Additionally, there will be showcases of local and national performers and live artists, from stilt walkers to fire spinners and live muralists.

Sacred Acre will also feature a wide variety of vendors selling homemade wares and Alaskan-made goods, as well as food vendors with Alaskan grown and based productions.

For attendees who want to elevate their Sacred Acre experience, there are various camping and VIP packages, such as the All Party, No Planning package, which includes two festival passes, two shuttle passes, two Groove Cruise passes, meals for two twice a day, access to the VIP exclusive campground near the main stage, fire pit, and shared VIP stage viewing booth, and full camping set up and ready for when you arrive. For transportation to and from Sacred Acre, there will be a shuttle that runs twice on Thursday, September 7 and once on Friday, September 8 from Anchorage to the festival and one back on Saturday, September 10 and twice on Sunday, September 11.
