Singer, songwriter, and producer Kid Travis rocks an indie sound through a polished production. With solid melodic indie punk/trap undertones, Kid Travis sings a wide variety of styles that congeal to form an utterly new and unique sound all to his own. His latest single, “Want U Bad,” is the Philadelphia-born singer’s newest addition to a repertoire of grooves.

Released on February 2, “Want U Bad” is an amalgamation of percussive alternative R&B, the smooth tones of Neo-Soul, and the powerful beat of Afro House. Above it all soars Trav’s voice, which rings clarion true over the intertwining instrumentals. The track radiates fresh, indie vibes while boasting a professionally mixed production with a seasoned feel behind the vocal delivery. The lyricism is simple but heartfelt; a plaintive love song to honesty, transparency, and second chances. Altogether, this is one of Trav’s best performances: lyrically, musically, and vocally.

Kid Travis is anything from an unknown sensation. With over 150 million streams on Spotify and over 480k subscribers on his YouTube channel, this artist has reached over 183 countries with his singular style. Many of his key inspirations include Drake, The Weeknd, Miguel, and Frank Ocean, which could all be heard in a riff there, a high note there, and a musical progression there. He’s also worked with other powerful artists and musicians in musical collaborations, including No Idols/Music Memory, Eluzai, Just Shad, and Double O Smoove.

From his childhood, Trav had already developed his musicality through a variety of instruments. At age 18, Kid Travis began to share these talents with Dedication, his first public release. This was succeeded by Luvsick and No Labels. He also kept himself busy with covers on XXXTENTACION, Post Malone and Drake. All of these and more are what keeps fans returning to this multi talented artist week after week.
