James Bay opens up about collaborating with 1824 on his music video “Save Your Love”

GRAMMY-nominated artist and songwriter James Bay recently shared his latest project “Leap” with the world. The brand new 12 track album is the first project he’s premiered since welcoming his first child to the world, which is still being celebrated by his fan base. There are a lot of special features about this album, that I’ll leave you to listen to yourself, yet I’d like to highlight how James shared a one of a kind opportunity with 1824’s young-adult creator team. He collaborated with UMG’s division to provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity for the team, that aims to connect up-and-coming creators with big-time opportunities. We were able to speak with James about this creative process.

We wondered, “What was it like collaborating with °1824’s young adult-based team on Save Your Love? How did it compare to collaborating with a seasoned director and how did this music video differ from others you’ve created?”

“It was great. It was a lot of fun. It’s all about the simplicity, and getting gorgeous light as the sun is rising – which goes hand in hand with the themes of this album. I will say, I’ve tried some very busy and bold music videos before and they’re good and bad. They work and they don’t work and they’re always really expensive and intense. This was a great hang, which shoots can be, and they’re not always, and when they are it feels twice as worth it. Coming up with the aesthetic, lighting, and a fantastic plan, it was really a cool experience. It only took us a couple of hours to film, so by the time we were done filming we got to have a second breakfast!”

The music video is available for streaming now, and can be viewed exclusively on YouTube!

Listen to the album across all major streaming platforms! We highly recommend listening early at dawn with a cup of tea and breakfast (and we think it’s safe to say James would also recommend this too).
