Nikki Wishart and Painting Love as “Illusions”
Melbourne artist Nikki Wishart has released her single “Illusions” today. The song is described as an expression of her own heart – from the hope and the epic highs of connection, to the pain and utter confusion of unlabeled and undefined love.
Infused with thoughtful lyricism and an authentic energy, Wishart is a natural in painting soaring and honest portraits of passion and heartbreak. She takes inspiration from fellow singer-songwriters including Holly Humberstone and Chelsea Cutler, and her musical style has an endearing sincerity that can be appreciated by anyone who is believes in the importance of expressing universal emotions and creating connections.
The track opens by reminiscing on good times, before feelings were destroyed and a heartbreak was enacted. With a soothing piano and other soft instrumentals, Wishart questions if the love she once had was all an illusion. By far, the true treasure of this song is the incredible vocals, and how well it is carried and composed of throughout the entirety of the track.
