Interview with Tsu Nami at BUKU: Crafting Unique Productions and Providing Representation

Tsu Nami, much like her namesake, is a force to be reckoned with, blending together her multi-instrumental upbringing with future bass and electro-pop to create addictive dance atmospheres. Donning her signature electric pink hair and anime characters on her shirt and pants, both made by individual artists, the LA-based DJ and producer sat down with us for a quick-fire interview before her first time performing at BUKU Music + Art Project last weekend.

Using her music as a platform as well as an outlet, Tsu Nami regularly makes space for representation, both racial and gender, and mental health – adding to the growing wave of new-generation artists who are making sure to focus on themselves and their values and needs. When she’s not being a kick-ass producer and advocate…well, that all is a full-time job, but she also is sure to integrate self-care in the form of skincare and video games.

Although we didn’t have much time to get into specific topics, we cover everything above and some more in our interview, which you can watch below! Tsu Nami is a name you’ll want to remember because her spirit only elevates her unique style.
