Cyberpunk 2077 was arguably the most popular video game release of 2020. It’s been widely praised for its futuristic graphics and realistic gameplay. Although, most video game nerds will tell you that while the visual elements of the game are top-notch, the soundtrack is what really brings this thing to life. Players can choose from various in-game radio stations which feature some of the most innovative and creative musicians around. One of my personal favorites, featured on 89.3 Vexelstrom and 92.9 Night FM, is Nashville-based musician OnenO. Thursday night I had the pleasure of catching his performance at The Flamingo Lounge. This would be his first live show in almost 2 years.
OnenO aka Kevin Hastings is not simply a DJ, he is an electronic artist. This observation became apparent as soon as his set began, with a guitar in hand, he flawlessly blended elements of EDM with Rock in ways most “DJ’s” simply cannot. I find most EDM sets to be typical and boring, more often than not, it’s just a person with headphones standing behind turntables until their set is over. OnenO on the other hand didn’t seem to sit still the entire set, jumping from microphone to keys and back to guitar. His energy and stage presence was as through the roof as his music. Performing as if he was in front of 10,000 fans, he kept the crowd engaged and moving throughout. His set absolutely thumped, and the cherry on top was special guest vocalists, Sinclair and Karim. It was a night of fun and killer music, and I highly recommend checking out everything this man is creating. 10/10 live performance!
