Let Flo Go closes out summertime feels with a post-breakup single that allows listeners to interpret it as they want and reflect on the meaning it holds in their lives. “Numb” is an alt-rock ballad that was inspired by the after-effects of a breakup when you’re filled with the superficial “I’ve moved on” feelings, only to realize that you’re just numb. Even with this inspiration, the sisters say “We don’t really explain the songs to the audience…we want the listener to let the song take on their own meaning, reflect it back into their own lives.”

Let Flo Go is a sister band in Santa Barbara, CA. What started out as weekly sibling Suzuki guitar lessons in their childhood turned into performances, songwriting, and learning bass, drums, and harmonies. Now, both sisters are singer/songwriters who have put school in their rearview and were performing in the Central Coast, along with their first residency, until 2020 hit. Pivoting, they focused on writing more songs, recording new music, and creating content online, growing their social media presence and following.

Live performances from the sisters have their own magic given the dynamic. The pair is funny, witty, interactive with audiences, and has been invited back to every stage they’ve played on. Their sound varies from teen-moody blues to uptempo rock and sometimes employs country/American feels. With over 1000 performance hours before the age of 20, Let Flo Go is known for its depth and breadth of original music which incorporates unique sounds and playful lyrics to create tracks that are catchy, powerful, and addicting.

“Numb” coincides with the release of their first-ever EP, Can You See It Now. Having dropped a handful of the singles off of the EP leading up to its release, the sisters welcomed listeners into their world of soaring vocals set against steady rock anthems filled with spirit and swing. “Numb” takes a softer approach than the preceding tracks on the list. Opening with a quiet piano melody and emotive lyrics, the undertone of the track is set early on. It quickly swells underneath a roaring chorus with forceful vocals and vigorous rock instrumentals. As the sisters mention, the lyrics are open for interpretation – do you want to approach the post-breakup emotions head-on and acknowledge them or let them fall where they are as you move forward with your life?
