If Coachella Weekend 1 built the momentum, Weekend 2 turned it into something more vivid and distinct through special guests, surprise slots, and an unexpected artist with a standout performance. They all gave Coachella some of its clearest live moments. From Madonna stepping into Sabrina Carpenter’s set to Billie Eilish becoming Justin Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl,” and from Kacey Musgraves‘s Ingenious Opening to Ethel Cain’s otherworldly Mojave set, Weekend 2 felt less like a repeat than the point where anticipation finally became memory.

1. Biggest Moments with Special Guests

Madonna Joins Sabrina Carpenter in ‘Juno Position’

The “Juno position” is always the most anticipated part of all Sabrina Carpenter’s sets. Madonna’s surprise appearance in this part tends to hit the atmosphere. Their collaboration on “Vogue,” “Like a Prayer,” and a preview of new music from Madonna’s Confessions II turned the precious moment into more than a crowd-pleasing twist. It brought a rush of retro-pop glamour to Coachella, while making the lineage of diva energy feel vivid, stylish, and fully alive onstage.

Olivia Rodrigo debuted her latest single, “Drop Dead,” with Addison Rae.

In Addison Rae’s set, Olivia Rodrigo surprisingly joined. She joined Addison’s “Headphones On” and delivered the first live debut of her new single “Drop Dead.” Then, the two Gen Z pop stars brought a bright, playful charge to the Coachella main stage. With Olivia’s textured voice and Addison’s lighter tone meeting in a way, it made ‘Drop Dead‘s quirky spirit land even harder to live in. Moreover, as Olivia’s second special guest’s appearance at Coachella, the moment also quietly raises a stronger possibility: could her third Coachella appearance come as a headliner?

Billie Eilish became Justin Bieber’s ‘One Less Lonely Girl.’

Every ‘Belieber’ has imagined the fantasy of becoming Justin Bieber’s “One Less Lonely Girl.” At Weekend 2, Bieber brought that concert ritual back during his YouTube request segment, giving one of his most iconic fan-facing moments a new life onstage.

The real jolt came when Billie Eilish was chosen for the role. Billie is not only a star herself, but one of the most publicly recognizable ‘Belieber’s of her generation. This made the moment feel both surreal and strangely perfect. Consequently, the reaction at Coachella was instant: a rush of emotion, noise, and collective delight that turned the desert night into one of the set’s loudest peaks. Billie may have been the most proper “One Less Lonely Girl” imaginable, making the callback feel like a full-circle pop moment.

2. Surprise Slots On Sets

Kacey Musgraves Opens Mojave on Horseback

Kacey Musgraves returned to Coachella after seven years. She opened the Mojave stage in a look that reworked classic cowboy styling through a more glam, stylized lens. With silver star makeup details around the eyes, it leaned subtly queer-coded; the result felt less traditional Western than camp, polished, and stage-ready.

Teddy Swims Returns to Coachella Main Stage to GIVĒON‘s Set With “Lose Control”

Teddy Swims returned to the Coachella main stage just one day after his own set. He made a surprise appearance during GIVĒON’s performance. With GIVĒON’s set framed by an orchestral design, “Lose Control” took on a fuller, more cinematic shape, its sweeping string lines finding a natural home in the arrangement.

‘B-I-G BANG Is Back’, G-Dragon announced at Coachella

BIGBANG finally made their six-year-delayed Coachella debut, turning the set into a full comeback statement. After “SOBER,” G-DRAGON announced the group’s return, followed by news of an August tour and BIGBANG’s new Instagram launch on their 20th anniversary.

Young Thug Turns the Sky Into Stage Design

At Coachella, it is impossible to cover every stage. However, the pictures above were shot from the Outdoor Theatre side. Young Thug’s Coachella main stage set design stood out for its visual strikingness. Efficiently Drew in festivalgoers well beyond his own audience.

3. Glasse Pick: The Most Distinct Artist and Set

Ethel Cain’s Mojave set became one of Weekend 2’s most distinct moments, acting as a kind of calm utopia between the intensity of Sabrina Carpenter and Anyma. But her Southern Gothic style never read as low-energy. With harmonica, tambourine, green plant-based stage design, and waves of fog, Cain built something that felt sacred, cinematic, and otherworldly. Just as the set seemed to settle into a hymn-like stillness, red lighting, heavier drums, and bass pushed it into a darker, more powerful place. In one performance, she moved from ethereal to ominous, proving herself one of Coachella’s most commanding shapeshifters.

In the end, Coachella Weekend 2 became more than a follow-up to the first weekend. Rather, it was defined by surprise moments and gorgeous collaboration between artists. Both of them gave 2026 Coachella its strongest sense of identity. More than hype alone, Weekend 2 showed how anticipation could turn into breakthrough and unforgettable live energy.
