Eidola Graces Sacramento on Their Eviscerate/Mend Tour

Eidola returned to Sacramento for the first time since 2017 for their brand new tour, dually for their two most recent albums Eviscerate and Mend. Along with them was NERV, a rock band straight out of Sacramento.

The crowd at Ace of Spades is always excitable, but NERV had them especially hyped up. With upbeat punchy melodies and catchy lyrics, NERV definitely had loyal fans in the crowd, and even won a few more. Lead singer Dillon Jones, who started the band in Sacramento, had a few words for his hometown crowd:

I grew up going to this venue and shows here my whole life, so it’s so cool to see so many faces here today.

Eidola then stunned the crowd with beautiful complex melodies and dual vocals, crisp clear singing from lead singer Andrew, and deep scathing screams from Matthew Dommer. Every song of theirs was an anthem to at least someone in the crowd, but everyone sang along to every word. Lead guitarist Sergio was a treat to see jump and dance across the stage in a wild fashion, while Andrew shimmied and jigged in between his parts. While there was a near constant mosh pit through-out the night, by far the largest was during the song God Takes Away Everything, which features heartbreaking soulful lyrics and angry fast breakdowns.

Andrew Wells has deep connections to Sacramento, as he’s now also the lead singer of Sacramento’s Dance Gavin Dance, and goes way back with the group as well. Near the end of the show, Andrew reflected:

The first time I ever stepped foot on this stage was in 2015, and it was the 10 Year Anniversary Tour of Dance Gavin Dance. Do you remember who hosted the show? Will Swan’s amazing parents came out and hosted the show. Sacramento has one of the best scenes in the entire country. Thanks for supporting local music, and thanks for hanging out with us.
