We’re well into summer and while this summer looks pretty different from previous years, at least the summer bangers haven’t stopped. If you’re having kickbacks this summer, socially distanced of course, don’t sleep on “Foo Foo” – it’s the perfect addition to your playlist.
81mAAntra is a producer duo from Nashville, TN, focused on hip-hop and pop. Its members, Eric Olson and Sammy Martin, have been collaborating for nearly 8 years and have worked with some big name producers like Tommy Brown, Tobias Jesso Jr., Sid Tipton, and numerous others. Bryce Green is a poetic hip-hop lyricist who also currently resides in Nashville, and spent his formative years in St. Louis. He has provided direct support for artists like 2Chainz and Lackhoney.
The trio connected shortly Bryce moved to Nashville about a year ago and instantaneously connected to begin making music together. They released their first track, “The Warmup,” earlier this year. “Foo Foo”, short for fool, is quite the departure, technically and lyrically, from their first track.
According to Bryce, the song came together almost “by accident.” 81mAAntra had put together the track and sent it to Bryce to develop the melodies, but he ended up experimenting and adding in some lyrics about being a fool in love. The hook came together seamlessly, followed by the outro, and the song was basically all set. Bryce wanted to try something different with this song, so he put a included a high pitched vocal throughout the song, aside from the hook.
Between the love-laced lyrics, light and airy production, and differing pitched vocals, this is such an easy song to vibe to. And you’d be foo foo not to give it a listen to start your weekend off on a high note.
Also keep your eyes out for more tracks from this trio! I’m told they have something special coming out later this month.
