The multi-platinum artists released this original track in the fall, and it has all the elements of a classic holiday pop song. “1 Wish” opens with a series of bells reminiscent of the beginning of “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” It’s the kind of heartwarming, nostalgic sound that you expect from holiday ear-worms like this one.
Max’s vocals burst onto the track following this opening sequence. They are uplifted by a tried and true sonic environment of sleigh bells, horns, and swinging drums that round out the song’s classic festive sound. An equally festive lyric video was released to accompany the single, and the handmade aesthetic reflects the simple comforts Max croons for on the track.
The single is the latest release of 2024 for Max, a year filled with an unstoppable string of dance-pop hits. Following the release of her acclaimed sophomore album Diamonds & Dancefloors in 2023 and her biggest world tour to date, this year has found Max has making the most of her time in the studio.
Most recently she collaborated with Grammy-winning DJ and producer Davide Guetta and 80’s synth pop band Alphaville titled “Forever Young” prior to the release of this Christmas smash. Singles like “Spot A Fake,” “My Oh My,” and her collaboration with Kygo titled “Whatever” have also made waves this year. “Whatever” has already reached the top-ten in several countries since its release, but her newest single closes out the year on a strong and equally cheerful note.
