Multi-platinum recording artist, songwriter, producer, and philanthropist ZAYN has officially announced his highly anticipated fifth studio album, KONNAKOL. The project will be released April 17, 2026 and is currently available for pre-order.
KONNAKOL, An Ode to ZAYN’s Heritage
KONNAKOL marks what ZAYN describes as his most culturally inspired project to date. The pop-forward album expands on the sonic direction fans first heard on his record-breaking debut studio album, Mind of Mine. The title itself references the South Indian art form of creating rhythmic percussion sounds using the voice.
Explaining the meaning behind the album, ZAYN shared that the concept carries personal significance beyond its literal definition:
It is a sound that holds the reverberation of a time before words existed. I have always drawn on my heritage for inspiration since I first started making my own music, this album is a development of that understanding, knowing more now than ever, who I am, where I come from and where I intend to go.” – ZAYN.
The album artwork features a snow leopard, a profound symbol in South Asia that reflects the cultural influence behind the record. Fans may recognize the imagery from ZAYN’s recent Las Vegas residency, where the snow leopard appeared at the end of each concert. The visual motif now comes full circle with the album’s official artwork.
First Glimpses of KONNAKOL Makes Waves
The announcement of KONNAKOL arrives during a strong run of momentum for the artist. ZAYN recently completed his first-ever Las Vegas residency, where he debuted and teased unreleased material from KONNAKOL. The performances generated significant buzz among both fans and critics. The lead single “Die For Me” dropped on February 6th, 2026, offering fans a first official glimpse into the world of KONNAKOL.
Variety noted the significance of this return, writing:

More recently, ZAYN collaborated with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo on the single “Eyes Closed.” The track made a global impact, debuting at No. 10 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart with 43.9 million first-week streams and reaching No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also peaked at No. 21 on Spotify’s Global chart and topped iTunes in more than 40 countries. The collaboration has since earned a nomination for Favorite K-Pop Collaboration at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The Evolution of ZAYN
ZAYN first rose to solo success with his debut album Mind of Mine, becoming the first UK male solo artist to simultaneously debut at No. 1 on both the UK and US album charts in the first week of release. The album’s lead single, “PILLOWTALK,” topped charts in 68 countries and has been certified five-times platinum by the RIAA. He later released the gold-certified Icarus Falls and the critically acclaimed Nobody Is Listening.
Throughout his career, ZAYN has received numerous accolades including a Billboard Music Award, an American Music Award, an MTV Video Music Award, and two Brit Award nominations.
Beyond music, ZAYN has also used his platform to advocate for social issues. In 2022, he wrote a public letter to the British Prime Minister calling for expanded access to free school lunches for children living in poverty across the UK. The government later implemented measures to broaden access to free school meals.
