Electric Forest 2025 was truly one for the books. Among all its magical moments, none shone brighter than Wreckno’s surprise on-stage proposal to their partner, Arlee. The heartfelt engagement unfolded in front of a packed crowd, capturing hearts across the festival grounds and marking an unforgettable celebration of queer love.

An Electrifying Surprise

Electric Forest is a multi-genre festival in Rothbury, Michigan, made possible by Madison House Presents and Insomniac Events. First launched as the Rothbury Festival in 2008, it has since become a landmark event known for its immersive production, community spirit, and eclectic mix of electronic music and jam bands. Performing this year at Electric Forest 2025, Wreckno, the 27-year-old queer rapper, producer, and DJ from Michigan who’s been hailed as one of electronic music’s brightest rising stars, has turned the event to a celebration.

Celebrating Equality and EDM

Wreckno’s surprise carried even more weight as it arrived during the U.S.’s 10th anniversary of marriage equality, making this public declaration of love a timely and powerful reminder of how far the community has come. Adding to the magic, Wreckno revived their beloved Big Gay Soirée (BGS) at Electric Forest’s Honeycomb stage. What began in 2022 as a hometown celebration has since evolved into a traveling showcase of queer joy, music, and community… and this year’s edition was a full-on spectacle.

The celebration doesn’t end there. Pride Month continued for Wreckno with the release of their brand-new EP, ID FREAK, which dropped on June 27th. A bold, independent project, the six-track collection blends Wreckno’s signature rap-meets-bass style with club-ready production, each track paired with Wreckno wearing custom couture fashion looks designed to reflect the music’s energy and narrative.

Before the release, fans have already gotten a taste of ID FREAK with singles “DL” (featuring jordnmoody) and the title track “ID FREAK,” released earlier this summer. The EP follows major career milestones, including collaborations with Opiuo and an official remix for Tate McRae, and marks Wreckno’s first fully independent release since 2022’s The Fantasy.

Creating Safe Spaces for LGBTQ+ Fans

As one of the most visible voices in EDM-bass music today, Wreckno continues to push boundaries and create inclusive spaces on and off the stage. DJ Mag praised them for:

breaking boundaries and fostering inclusive spaces so others like them can reach the stars,”

which is a mission that was on full display at Electric Forest’s unforgettable weekend.

With a packed Pride schedule, a new era of music, and a real-life love story unfolding under the lights, Wreckno is proving once again that celebrating queerness with good music will always belong at the center of festival culture.
