Tom Odell Drops Exquisite Piano-Lead Track Titled “Butterflies” Featuring AURORA

With the recent release of his newest album, Best Day Of My Life, indie-pop artist Tom Odell has also released a new single featuring Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA, titled “Butterflies.” Speaking from an aesthetically-pleasing standpoint, the new single is a 10/10 – giving listeners a beautiful melody and sonically compassionate piano. Of course, singers Tom Odell and AURORA match this motif with their soft song, impressively complementing the instrumental with an elegant balance and poise.

Tom Odell speaks on his admiration of AURORA and the message behind the lyrics to say,

“I have been a fan of Aurora and her music for many years and it was a dream come true to make this song together. It’s a song about spending the day with somebody you really like and at the end of the day having to say goodbye to them, not knowing if you will ever see them again, but being happy for the experience regardless.”

Though the lyrics are simple, it’s the melody that truly captures the essence of their meaning – bringing them to life in each note and filling the space with pure brilliance. If you don’t believe us, believe American Songwriter, who stated that “[‘Butterflies’ is] melancholic but also offers a touch of levity. It’s a work made by someone whose fingers have toiled over and traveled on 88 keys for a whole lifetime.”

“Butterflies” is intended to be a continuation of Odell’s most recent album, Best Day Of My Life, which consists entirely of his voice and a piano alone – creating a minimalist atmosphere to the music, but also placing immense restrictions on himself. Because of this, Odell was forced to dig deep and discover his true abilities in the sonic world. As he recently became an independent artist, Tom is now able to thrive in his creativity and vision – stating, I feel so free, so liberated to be an independent artist. There’s a huge amount of relief in this music, of just getting to do exactly what I want to do.”
