Sigrid And Bring Me The Horizon Deliver Killer Collab With New Single, “Bad Life”

As the May 6th release of her highly anticipated album HOW TO LET GO draws closer and closer, Sigrid has yet again delivered a banger of a song with “Bad Life.”

In the short time since its release, the track, featuring Bring Me The Horizon, has garnered nothing but praise from audiences and critics alike. Upon first listen, “Bad Life” seems to work due to the combination of Sigrid’s signature writing style and Bring Me The Horizon’s instrumentation and vocal storytelling, but audiences will be delightfully surprised to discover that “Bad Life” was actually written by Bring Me The Horizon.

Lead singer Oli Sykes explains how the collaboration came about saying, “Jordan and I wrote this song in lockdown, remotely. We loved the message, but it wasn’t really fitting with the brief of the record we are currently creating. When we found out Sigrid was a fan, we felt like it was the perfect fit for her, although initially I was reluctant as I felt like it was such a special record. Then Sigrid asked if I’d duet with her on the track and that sealed the deal!”

A behind the scenes video released by Bring Me The Horizon on April 29th reveals that “Bad Life” has been through a few different iterations (that we will probably never get to hear) including one rendition that is played on the ukulele.

It’s pretty safe to assume that a Sigrid/Bring Me The Horizon collaboration wasn’t what you had on your 2022 Music Collaboration Bingo Card, but it’s one that works so well that hopefully it happens again in the near future. While we’ll never know what the track might have sounded like before Sigrid, there is no doubt that the unlikely artist mashup is exactly what this song needed to be.

Sigrid describes “Bad Life” as a song that “tells the story of when things are rough and it can feel like you’re never going to stop feeling sad.” Instead of hyper-fixating on these emotions (as hard as that may seem) we need to remember that “It’s just a bad day, not a bad life.” Chock-full of blisteringly emotional lyrics, “Bad Life” is the perfect song to serve as a reminder that whatever storm you may be facing will eventually pass.

My idea of the perfect date? “That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th, because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.” -Miss Congeniality
