Fall back into a ‘delicate daydream’ with this year’s steamy anthem, ‘Summer of Love.’ Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes featuring Puerto Rican Producer Tainy dropped a new single on August 20, 2021. The collaboration included a whimsical music video, and low key the visuals are heavenly. In the past few weeks, Shawn Mendes and Tainy, ‘Summer of Love’ has ranked number 35 on Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US.
Shawn Mendes, muse and love, Camilla Cabello inspired the 23-year old singer to write ‘Summer of Love.’ Before Mendes and Cabello were an item, the young artists released a debut single, ‘Señorita,’ on June 21, 2019, and their romance blossomed. An enamored Mendes compares his summery romance with Cabello to a teenage daydream. “Meditation and tequila/Calling you my señorita/Didn’t know how much I need ya/Hate it when I have to leave ya.” His honeyed voice pairs perfectly, chill guitar picking, and upbeat bass.
In the ‘Summer of Love’ Music video, Mendes has the ultimate Summer vacation, driving near the coast of Mallorca, Spain, swimming in clear blue water, and hanging with friends. Mendes appears semi-shirtless, sailing away on a boat, taking spontaneous trips, and drinking Don Julio at a club. ‘It was the summer of love (you were my summer of love)/ A delicate daydream/ And for a couple of months/ It felt like we were 18, yeah.’ Mendes stunning smile and seductive voice will melt your heart.
