Sacramento? More like SHAQramento.
Dr. Shaquille O’Neal Ed.D brought his very own SHAQ’s Bass All-Stars on the opening night of the California State Fair. Just next door, Cal Expo‘s soccer field was transformed into a raging masterpiece of bass and showcased not only DJ DIESEL himself, but some up and comers in the scene.
The triple digit weather did not stop fans from pouring in to Cal Expo on Friday night. And it wasn’t long before the soccer field turned stage was alit with excited fans. Not many in the crowd stayed on the sidelines, and were hungry to witness the acts for the night to come on ground level.
Highlight acts of the night included CELO, Rated R, Bear Grillz, and GHENGAR.
While CELO, Bear Grillz, and Rated R braved the worst of the heat, it didn’t stop them from playing even heavier music. The audience ate it up with pride. GHENGAR’s act took the stage just as the sun was setting. The state fair’s rides glimmered on the horizon as the skies took to purples and pinks. GHENGAR raged even harder.

From the moment he stepped onstage, DJ DIESEL turned the fairgrounds into a battlefield of sound.
Tornadoes of mosh pits broke out across the crowd. Fans clung to barricades, headbanging with wild abandon. Fireworks erupted in the sky just a few hundred feet away, but the real explosions were happening on the ground.
In one of the night’s most memorable moments, SHAQ brought the Sacramento State men’s basketball team onstage mid-set, giving the local squad a hero’s welcome as the crowd went off.
Cal Expo has seen big crowds before, but nothing quite like this. The energy was relentless from start to finish. It was loud, and it was sweaty. It was everything a bass fan could want from a night under the summer sky.
SHAQ’s Bass All-Stars is becoming known for shaking cities to their core, and Sacramento just got the treatment. And if this is any preview of what’s to come on the rest of the tour, other cities better brace themselves.
