Of the Trees played Headliners Music Hall on February 2nd, 2025 as part of a 37-show Moonglade tour. This is the “biggest tour yet” for Tyler Coombs, the artistic mind behind Of the Trees. Louisville, KY hosted the 22nd show in one of the smallest venues of the run. DVMU and Distinct Motive opened for Of the Trees as two of fourteen support artists featured along the tour.
Headliners Music Hall holds a capacity of 700, which quickly sold out. The show was heavily downsized compared to Salt Shed in Chicago, IL (3,600) and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO (9,525). The capacity of Headliners was comparable to dates at the ELM in Bozeman, MT and and Midtown Ballroom in Bend, OR. Both of these venues hold just over 1,000 patrons.
Jack Sabbath of Something Good commented on how drastically the production changed going to a large to a smaller room. “We only used 25% of the rig,” he says. “We took the roof and just set it on the stage.” Sabbath emphasized how little of the production gear was used. Instead of a 100-panel video wall, only 27 were used at Headliners.
Despite a downsized rig, fans flocked to the venue right off downtown Louisville. Patrons quickly filled the venue to capacity and carried the passion and energy of dance music to the very end. The spirit in the room was electrifying as DVMU and Distinct Motive took the stage to open. Coombs began his 2-hour set at 10:30 pm and left fans enlightened and refreshed with his trance-like and intimate performance.
EDM subgenres dubstep and experimental bass were on full display as melodic and transcendent sound flowed with the mystical visuals and carefully choreographed lighting. The elements of audio, lighting and animation are perfectly curated to bring the audience into a magical forest of music.
Though the show in Louisville was small, the impact of the music was astronomical. Of the Trees took a quaint space outside of downtown and created a complete audio-visual experience and did not disappoint a sold-out crowd. Tyler Coombs’ reputation of creating a vision and building a fully-realized environment has stood as his career has progressed.
