#NewMusicFriday: Our Picks for the Week

New Music Friday brings this week’s fresh drops from Katie Tupper, Cavetown, Ecca Vandal, and more!

1. Cavetown – “NPC”

Cavetown’s new single “NPC” channels pop-punk energy into a deeply introspective anthem. Inspired by his childhood imaginary friend, Mr. Nobody, the track reflects on adult dissociation, life on the road, and the feeling of never being truly home. With its mix of moody guitar riffs, anthemic choruses, and tender lyricism, “NPC” transforms personal reflection into a catchy, emotionally resonant pop-punk moment.

2. Ecca Vandal – “MOLLY”

Ecca Vandal enters a new era with “MOLLY,” a volatile, genre-blurring single that channels her trademark collision of punk, hip-hop, soul, and electronic grit. Co-directed with longtime visual collaborator Richie Buxton, “MOLLY” signals an explosive return from one of music’s most unpredictable provocateurs. It’s raw, magnetic, and unmistakably Ecca Vandal.

3. Katie Tupper – “Right Hand Man”

Katie Tupper teases her debut album Greyhound with “Right Hand Man,” a smoky, funk-laced single. Leaning into her velvety neo-soul roots, Katie unpacks the pressure of becoming someone’s emotional anchor and the confusion it stirs in an otherwise fiercely independent heart. It’s a simmering, slow-burn standout that hints at the emotional honesty and expansive sound waiting on Greyhound, out January 21st.

4. Squeeze – “Trixies, Pt. 1”

Squeeze return with a stunning twist of musical history, announcing Trixies, the album they wrote first, but are only releasing now, arriving March 6, 2026. The newly shared single, “Trixies, Pt. 1,” offers a punchy glimpse into the smoky, fictional nightclub where their earliest stories unfolded. Revived from a rediscovered 1970s cassette and brought to life with the band’s seasoned craftsmanship, Trixies bridges teenage ambition with fifty years of songwriting mastery.

5. Louis Tomlinson – “Palaces”

Louis Tomlinson’s new single “Palaces” is a brand new anthem that finds him leaning deeper into the emotional clarity and grounded songwriting that have defined his solo evolution. Built on Louis’ signature vocal delivery that’s equal parts steady and aching, “Palaces” feels both intimate and expansive, and undeniably a confident step forward that teases his new album, How Did I Get Here? (out January 23rd).
