LŪN Remixes Lights’ “Okay Okay”

LŪN released the remix of Lights’ Okay Okay on Nov.4.The song was originally released by Lights in September of this year. The original song is an upbeat and chirpy electronic track. Lights sings about the troubles of life being mitigated by the love and support of a significant other. It is a pleasant uplifting song that will have you bobbing your head along to it.

The remix sees the song take on a new shape. It becomes heavily dominated with synths and is way more bass driven. The drums kick in around the 1:30 minute followed by a number of beat drops. The song constantly surprises you, daring you to ask what comes next. The lyrics are less discernible from the original, with Lights’ voice turned robotic and distorted. The remix is an incredibly fun song that will no doubt make you want to get up and dance.

Lights, whose full name is Lights Poxleitner-Bokan, is a Canadian singer-songwriter, producer, comic book artist and DJ. Her music can be described as alt pop, with Rock Sound describing her as “vibrantly joyous”. Lights’ sound involves her integrating pop with elements of indie, alternative and dance. Her music has helped her win two Juno Awards for Best Pop Album in the years of 2015 and 2018.

LŪN is actually an alter ego of Lights. LŪN sees Lights make more bass heavy and high energy music. Her song “bitches” was described by Billboard as having a “hefty siren call chorus that makes us feel like we can shoot lightning through our fingertip.”

LŪN was described as by Lights as a character present in her comic book series Skin and Earth. The Skin and Earth comics were based around her album of the same name.

“Lūn is a musician in the Skin&Earth universe. Though she is never actually mentioned, she appears all through the comic.”
