Eight-time GRAMMY®-nominated producer, DJ, and electronic music pioneer Kaskade returns to the album format with undux, his long-awaited new studio project. More than a collection of tracks, undux marks one of the most introspective, vulnerable, and creatively expansive chapters of his career.
A Return To Storytelling
After several years focused on singles built for the festival circuit, Kaskade deliberately turned back to the form that defined his earliest work: shaping the album as a narrative journey.
I have always enjoyed the process of making an album. It always felt like telling a story with chapters and verse… Less emphasis on the crescendo but really trying to convey an entire mood or idea” – Kaskade.
The road to undux was anything but straightforward. It wasn’t until this past summer that the project finally began to crystallize. What emerged is an album anchored in hope, vulnerability, and the quiet clarity of Kaskade that comes from letting emotion lead instead of resisting it.
Mapping An Emotional Landscape
The first glimpses of undux arrived in the fall, as Kaskade began to sketch out the album’s emotional arc through a series of singles.
On October 16th, he released the euphoric “DNCR” and the reflective “imprint.” Together, the tracks first introduced the themes that run through undux. Where “DNCR” leans into the liberating joy of movement and release, “imprint” turns inward, tracing the echoes of past experiences that linger beneath the surface.
He expanded that narrative on November 13 with the bittersweet “i can’t make you love me” and its b-side “started over.” These songs dwell in the space between heartbreak and acceptance. Across these early releases, undux reveals its terrain: the tension between holding on and letting go, anchored by Kaskade’s signature sound.
“obvious”: The Heart Of undux
At the center of the album sits “obvious,” the project’s focus track and emotional core. Featuring Kaskade’s own vocals and written from a first-person point of view, “obvious” stands as one of his most vulnerable recordings to date. The track weaves together dance-floor rhythm and Kaskade’s introspective lyricism in an intricate sound design that has long defined his work.
Connection Through Subtraction
Undux has always been about connection through subtraction. From the string of shows I did to the full length album, I’ve tried to strip everything to its base layer and understand the beauty of walking through feelings and experiences without getting lost in the reverberations.” – Kaskade.
Sonically and thematically, undux reflects a philosophy of stripping back to what matters most. Rather than chasing maximalism, the album leans into intentional nuance. While Kaskade’s catalog includes era-defining anthems and massive festival moments, undux turns the lens inward. It reconnects him to the foundations of his artistry, which results in a project that feels both intimate and expansive.
With undux, Kaskade continues to evolve while staying rooted in what has always set him apart: an unwavering vulnerability and willingness to take creative risks even at the height of his success.
