It is not often that one can say they had the chance to see a living legend in concert. Yet, anyone that went to see IU in Rosemont, IL can say exactly that. IU, Lee Ji-eun, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, actress, and one of the most prominent figures in the K-pop industry. Her success is marked by many awards and accolades. These include several Daesangs (Grand Prizes) at major music award ceremonies. She is often referred to as the “Nation’s Little Sister” due to her wholesome image. She also enjoys widespread popularity in South Korea. Her influence extends beyond music and acting, as she is also known for her philanthropy, consistently donating to various causes.
Her performance at the Allstate Arena was exactly as expected. She lived up to her caliber for their first time in North America. The “HEREH World Tour” spanned across six cities in the United States. Each city had its own unique flavors to the show. The city of Rosemont, IL has become a hot spot for Korean Pop concerts. This was another one that blew our minds. The concert was divided into separate stages, each reflecting a different aspect of IU’s artistic identity. These stages were Hypnotic, Energetic, Romantic, and Ecstatic. The encore did include some special stages as well, but let’s get to that in a moment.

The Hypnotic stage of the show did a wonderful job at allowing both herself and the crowd to warm up. Songs like “Holssi” and “BBIBII” were performed here, and these were two of our favorites during the opening spectacle. Now is a good time to mention just how strong the visual production was for this concert as well. During the last two tracks, there were some of the coolest choreography sections. These sections really set the mood for the crowd as far as “dancing” was concerned.
The next section was the Energetic stage, our personal favorite. This stage featured some of our absolute favorite IU tracks, including “Celebrity”, “Blueming”, and “Coin”. Our entire row during “Celebrity” was filled with tears of shock and joy throughout the song. During this stage is when IU really begun her banter and interactions with the crowd. Once she finished up “Coin” she had a stage hand help her deliver a gift. The gift was a small gold coin. She gave it to a young fan in the crowd. The fan looked like they were having the night of their life. During this stage, the visual team really stepped up. They delivered some of the most beautiful themed visuals on the LCD screen. It was behind IU and the rest of her performing team. A lot of these visuals were centered around the music videos inspired by the songs. Other visuals fit the theme at the time.
Take a look at some of the photos delivered by EDAM Entertainment, to see the visuals.
The Rosemont performance, much like the rest of the tour, was a massive success. It left fans eagerly anticipating her next visit stateside. IU continues to solidify her status as one of Korea’s most beloved artists on the global stage. Overall, the concert was a memorable experience for fans, filled with some of the most memorable performances. This show demonstrated her enduring popularity as well as it showed her ability to connect with audiences on a legendary level.
