What a way to spend the first part of our week than to see Jhené Aiko for the “Magic Hour Tour”. The multiple-time Grammy nominee has dominated the R&B space with an ethereal voice and alluring melodies. We joined with her in Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center for a sold out and ethereal performance.

The first vision we gazed upon were the crystals glimmering on the sides of the stage. A harp, a gong, and a bass played as Jhené blossomed into form… emerging from under the stage as flower petals opened and she danced inside it.

From there, a presence filled all of us in the crowd and continued to build as Jhené and the band took us through a story of their own creation. Aiko’s music is a blend of serene harmonies, introspective lyrics, and soothing vocals that create a unique auditory experience. Her songs weave together themes of love, self-discovery, and healing, resonating deeply with listeners. Every note and every lyric was delivered with an emotional impact that can’t be captured through recordings alone, leaving all of us intrigued and wanting more.

Bare-footed and grounded, each note Jhené sung offered the audience a sense of peace in the self-affirming and discovery tracks, and catharsis in the tracks built from sadness and heartbreak.

“You are right where you are supposed to be,” Jhené sighed during a break from the music. The harp cascaded through its own melody, complimenting our emotions while pulling us along different roads of feeling.

It was as if we’d entered into a portal of Aiko’s devising. It was an escape for a little while… but it also affirmed and grounded us for the next chapter in our journey, outside of the room, outside of the performance… and at the night’s conclusion, we finally felt ready to move forward.

Stay tuned for more news on Jhené Aiko and get your tickets to the remaining dates of the tour here!
