Noted as “one to watch” by Sir Elton John, Irish singer and songwriter Moncrieffe has released his moving new single, “Perfect.” His soulful vocals, simultaneously wrenching and tender, soar over a simple piano accompaniment and gentle strings in this gorgeous love ballad.
Commenting on the single, Moncrieff remarks: “Perfect is a very personal song for me about all those small moments in a relationship that make you realize that something isn’t as perfect as it once felt. It can be so hard to admit that something just isn’t right in a relationship and, despite your loyalty and care towards each other, sometimes good things come to an end.”
Talented enough to rub shoulders with the greats, Moncrieffe has collaborated with star artists such as Adele and Avicii. His vocals remind one of Hozier, Lewis Capelli, and Rag’n’Bone Man, and yet possesses a quality unto itself. His debut single, “Warm” was an instant hit that charted Top 10 on Irish Radio and was performed live with The RTÉ Concert Orchestra & Dublin Gospel Choir on The Tommy Tiernan Show. A self-produced six-track EP also titled ‘Warm’ followed in September, which introduced an array of Moncrieff’s poignant, vulnerable and deeply personal songwriting and resonated with millions of listeners within its second week of release.
Moncrieff’s intimate compositions are a reflection of his interiority; having lost two siblings as a teenager, Moncrieff turned to songwriting as a way to heal and has been on a mission to connect with people through music ever since. His earnest desire to share his talent with the world shows itself in every track he releases; “Perfect” is no exception. With more new music and live shows to come, we expect to see Moncrieff climb to new heights in 2023 and beyond.
