Josh Green has been creating music with drums for over 25 years. You can hear his work with artists such as InfradigJosh GarrelsThe Distribution, and Summer Dregs. He is also the creator of the Permanent Record Drum sample library, a year-long discipline where he creates and publishes a new drum loop pack every day. He is currently exploring the fusion of midi/DMX lighting and video triggering for live performances to explore the sonic and visual capabilities of sensory percussion.

His new single, “Heartlight,” is the first release off of his forthcoming EP, LUMEN. Composed and performed on drums using space-age sensory percussion technology, the track showcases the depths to which Josh has explored and expanded his craft.

Featuring glistening tones, drum samples from a sacred bamboo forest, and the vocal work of singer/songwriter Joel Harris, “Heartlight” is an luminous and enveloping experience. The pace of the percussions ebb and flow with the rise and fall of the vocals, which switch off between throaty and airy. This single is a melding of different techniques and samples, but nothing ever comes to the forefront to really overwhelm listeners. It’s a calming, meditative piece. It’s the type of song that can you transport you to a world of your choosing.
