1. “Ruby” – Cascade Riot

First up on today’s list is “Ruby,” the newest single from the Detroit-based band, Cascade Riot. They are best known for fusing together elements of rock-and-roll, pop and alternative music to create a unique blend of song and sound. The new track does just that, illustrating the feeling of yearning for something that is now long gone. “Ruby, show me again / I wanna see it and not let it end,” sings Ryan Failla, lead vocalist and guitarist. “Ruby” is the second released single from Cascade Riot this year, following “Exit 55.” Both tracks come after their successful January EP, “Life on Venus,” which has since then garnered thousands of Spotify streams.

2. “Shed The Skin” – Soraia

Up next is “Shed The Skin” by Philly-based Soraia, a remixed and remastered version of their 2008 release. The song can be found on their new album of the same name, composed of nine other new remixes. “Shed The Skin” features gritty, passionate vocals by ZouZou Mansour, whose range has been said to resemble rock legends Patti Smith and Joan Jett. The catchy underlying guitar riffs and driving force of the drums make this piece a time capsule from the 80’s rock scene. Check out Soraia’s upcoming performances across the East Coast here!

3. “Top Shelf” – The Woggles

The Woggles, an Atlanta-based garage rock band, have released their latest digital single, “Top Shelf.” With a lively spirit and insanely catchy hook (“Top shelf . . . top shelf!”), the track is sure to keep the energy flowing at the function. Or, perfect for afternoon drives with the windows down and radio blasting. Either way, the lyrics reflect sentiments of letting the good times roll. Rick Miller, guitarist from Southern Culture on the Skids, filled the air with his invigorating electric guitar solos. Check out The Woggles’ California shows this December here!

4. “Living Reckless (Gate Go)” – Rundown Kreeps

Continuing our reign of rock sensations, Rundown Kreeps announced “Living Reckless (gata go).” The new single features fast-paced vocals that explore the idea of “living reckless” because life is so short. “Got to get away, got to get away soon / I’ve wasted so much time on things I hate to do,” the LA-based band sings. Formed in 2009, Rundown Kreeps’ discography is full of ska punk and alternative rock, with hypnotizing hooks capturing their passion for creating music.

5. “Closer” – Vlad Holiday

Closing out today’s selection is “Closer” by Romanian singer-songwriter, Vlad Holiday. The track also welcomes guest vocals and writing from Matt Shultz, Cage The Elephant‘s lead singer. The dual lo-fi and bedroom pop artists weave layers of dreamy melodies, atmospheric instrumentals and romantic vocals. Holiday’s sultry voice encapsulates the passion of being fully attracted to someone and letting fate pull them “closer” to you. “This is a love song,” Holiday explains. “It introduces the romantic element of the album. It’s about going with the flow and letting the universe do its thing, rather than forcing things into existence.” Look out for Holiday’s debut album, My Favorite Drug, out on Nov. 15 via ONErpm.
