COLDPLAY IS HITTING REPLAY ON “THE SCIENTIST” VIDEO FOR THEIR 29TH ANNIVERSARY

Rejoice my fellow rock music enthusiasts for we are celebrating the jubilee of an icon. August 26 marked exactly twenty years since Coldplay released their second album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head. The OG album has become an absolute timeless classic of millennial rock history that won multiple Grammys and sold over 17 million copies worldwide.

Who remembers rocking out to this track in their dorm room at the peak of their teenage dirtbag phase? Well-fitting to the teenage dirtbag revival trend coursing through TikTok and Instagram, Coldplay decided to celebrate this milestone with a remix of the entire album. A Rush Of Blood To The Head 2.0 will include all your fan favs from “In My Place”, “The Scientist”, “Clocks” to “God Put A Smile Upon Your Face” but with a special twist added for Dolby Atoms. The Dolby Atmos version is available to listen to now on Apple Music, Amazon, and TIDAL. Coldplay has also contributed memories about the album and its recording to Spotify, which can be viewed over on the band’s This Is Coldplay playlist.

But that’s not all! Coldplay just keeps on gifting, additionally, the band also released an upgraded 4K version of the iconic Jamie Thraves-directed video for “The Scientist”, which has been restored and re-graded from the original 35mm film rushes.

Now we can appreciate the creative masterpiece of this music video in HD. Thank you wonders of technology. Besides the obvious eye candy, the re-release of the video gives it a whole new feel. It is almost as if you’re experiencing the song for the first time again.

At its original release, A Rush Of Blood To The Head was described by NME as “an album of outstanding natural beauty”, with Rolling Stone calling it “first-rate” and Q presciently hailing it as “a collection of vastly moving songs that will render stadiums as intimate as bedrooms”. That prediction was spot on as it has been proven to be the case when the band plays songs from the album on their current Music Of The Spheres World Tour.
