L.A. rock band BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT bring us their highly anticipated debut album WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO?
The wait is finally over. L.A.-based rock band BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT have at last released their keenly awaited debut album WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO? BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT, consisting of Colie Hutzler, Beepus, Bardo, and Colton Flurry, have been stirring the scene since 2022 with their unique identity and a mix of rebellion, freedom, and unapologetic self-expression. Voicing the frustrations and desires of a generation, their music celebrates individuality and uniqueness while constantly pushing their own boundaries.
BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT already have more than made an impression on various prestigious stages, supporting blink-182 on their enormous arena tour, as well as joining Jaden Hossler (jxdn) across the U.S. Moreover, their sets at major festivals such as Lollapalooza are nothing to scoff at either. Playing on the BMI Stage in front of an audience of 3,000 people, as well as a spotlight appearance at Download Festival’s 20th anniversary, BSD have solidified their place in the festival landscape.
In addition, their own headline tours continue to sell out venues in major cities such as Los Angeles, New York and Nashville. However, their reach is not just confined to the US. BSD’s high-octane rock has also earned them spots as support band for the likes of Maggie Lindemann and Stand Atlantic across the UK and Europe. Next to their highly successful conquest of the stages across the globe, BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT have also constantly been evolving their fiery, infectious rock sound and it shows on their debut album WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO?

Leading up to the album’s release, fans were treated to a slew of singles, giving a taste of what awaits them. Among these songs they released over the past few months are smash hits such as “TWO OF US,” “SEX APPEAL,””FEVER,” as well as their rock shot of adrenaline that is “ON YOUR LIPS.” It is a testament to the band’s ability to express themselves across the whole spectrum of soundscapes and emotions. From the introspective “SICK PUPPY” to the longing title track of the album “CITY NEVER SLEEPS,” it makes a point of making clear that it is not solely confined to its genre.
“CITY NEVER SLEEPS” is a single full of yearning for someone. This person has us in their grips to a point where they follow us into our dreams. But in the real world, the relationship to them isn’t as clear cut and it seems that a lack of communication and differing interests make its status quo unclear. Sonically, the track masterfully combines synths, guitars, a catchy beat and vocal distortion into a truly special experience.
Another highlight of the album is their single “HEART AWAY,” an anthem for the heartbroken.
About the song the band explains,
‘HEART AWAY’ is the club banger. We want this song to feel like an electric night on the dance floor with heavy-hitting riffs and even stickier hooks. This one is meant to be a bandage for the broken hearts out there.
Alongside the track, BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT dropped a music video set in a strip club that seems to be portraying the tragedy of real love, loss and the struggle to fill the void it leaves.

About the album the band says,
‘WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO?’ is a story about unrequited love and the lengths we go to fill its void—whether in romance, work, or any part of life that feels endlessly unfulfilled. It’s about the irony of our vices, the ways we cope, and the joy and chaos we chase just to get it out of our system. It’s a hedonistic dream. A rock and roll revival.
The album started as a batch of self-produced demos after a year of worldwide touring alongside acts like blink-182, Turnstile, JXDN, and more. We wanted to make rock music feel fun again. When’s the last time you walked into a party and a band was playing? We want to change that. With legendary producer Neal Avron, we took a more traditional, live approach that pushed us toward a rawer, more honest sound than we’d ever captured—walls of guitars, cutting-edge synths, and stadium-sized hooks. Party sh*t.
With WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO? out, this milestone on BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT’s journey is only the beginning. This debut album of theirs proves that they are here to stay and an unstoppable force at that. Eager for more BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT? Make sure to grab tickets for the North American leg of their UK, EU and US Tour that is still going until November 16, where it will close out in Orlando, Florida at the Warped Tour.
