Love and heartbreak are such common threads in music. After all, some of the best art has been made during periods of elation…but also misery. But we don’t always hear about life after heartbreak – what does it feel like to begin to forgive a past lover and begin to fall in love again? It’s an exploration that Bear2 embarks on in his newest single, “Holy.”

Bear2 (Alexandre Berthoud) is a long-time musician who has spent time playing acoustic shows and live performances and is now focusing on releasing his first recorded tracks and full project. He has done everything from booking his own shows when he was in high school to busking on the side of the street for some extra cash to recording in professional studios across Los Angeles. With a soulful and heartfelt sound, Alexandre is determined to work in the footsteps of artists such as Dermot Kennedy, Lewis Capaldi, and Bon Iver. After 2020, a near-death experience, and discovering the love of his life, Alexandre has been left with mountains of inspiration to write from. This is his story, his sound, and his music – welcome to Bear2!

The third single off of his upcoming full project, “Holy” is a soulful track written from the perspective of the one who has been hurt. As they begin to overlook the mistakes of the past lover and forgive them for the heartache caused, the singer realizes that they are falling in love with their past lover again.

Similar to his previously released singles, Bear2 creates a warm and welcoming sonic environment for his listeners though a delightful blend of indie, folk, and pop rock influences while echoing tones lead us into the track. The production is not simplistic by any means, but is stripped down enough to really keep emphasis on the heartfelt vocal performance. Cascading guitar strums float behind the velvety vocals as lyrics drift between being stuck in distant memories and forgetting the more hurtful moments. The standout chorus is one of the most beautiful moments in the track; it finds the light at the end of the tunnel amongst the pain. And in the final moments of the track, the chorus is repeated one final time in a completely acoustic manner, drawing the beautiful track to a glowing close.
