AURORA, the alt-pop sensation, has recently dropped her latest single, “Some Type Of Skin,” which debuted on March 20, 2024, under the labels Glassnote/Decca Records/Petroleum. The track, heralded by Clara Amfo on BBC Radio 1 as the “Hottest Record,” delves into the juxtaposition between vulnerability and the quest for emotional resilience, delivering deliciously dark electro-pop.

Produced in collaboration with Chris Greatti and mixed by Mitch McCarthy, “Some Type Of Skin” is enriched by the vocal contributions of London’s experimental ensemble Shards. AURORA unveiled the song live for the first time at London’s Lafayette during BRITs Week 2024 for War Child, garnering an enthusiastic reception from the audience.Originating from the stunning scenery of Bergen, Norway, AURORA has established herself as a standout figure in the music scene, enchanting crowds with her unique flair and dynamic live shows. Since joining Glassnote Records and Decca Records in 2014, she has garnered worldwide acclaim, amassing a dedicated following, with more than a million album sales, 12.6 million monthly listeners, and an astonishing 10 billion streams.

I’ve always been told that I should build some type of skin. I’ve always let myself merge too much with the world, not really knowing where the world ends and I begin. This song screams the muchness of it. And it’s delicious. Being human is really delicious, even though it’s more than any of us can handle. My god it’s a lot.

Accompanying the single is a captivating music video co-directed by AURORA and Kaveh Nabatian, with AURORA describing Nabatian as a kind of “strange soulmate from another world.” The video vividly brings to life the theme of loneliness explored in the song.
