Looping Back to What Matters: Tash Sultana’s Raw Return to the Stage

We have an exciting exclusive for you. July’s artist of the month features none other than Tash Sultana. The genre-defying multi-instrumentalist has turned the stage into a sacred space for many years now. They’ve also been on the road throughout the spring celebrating the release of their latest EP, Return to the Roots, and evidence proves that they’re stronger in their sound, in their message, and in who they are than ever before.

Not only did we catch Tash’s performance in Sacramento, not long after, we hopped on a call to chat about their newest era. They were candid, wide open and raw in everything they talked about with us.

Honestly, I feel the best that I ever have. I feel the strongest, the fittest, the sharpest ever. And I hope you can feel that and hear that in the music. New music, old music, same beat with many different chapters.

I was instantly struck with Tash’s calming presence when they hopped on the call. Not to mention there was a sense of peace that filled the space as they spoke openly and candidly of their experiences, and how they arrived in the realm that makes their sound and performances as magical as they truly are.

While Tash’s music is shaped in and through their identity, it’s the latest EP, Return to the Roots, that truly displays them at their core, more than ever before. Not just in the way they perform it and in the lyrics. You could sense that there was a sense of closure that came from releasing the new music.

We chatted the rituals that ground Tash Sultana. We also talked about what it means to be real as an artist, and how their new EP became their most honest record yet.
