The iconic label Island Records is set to win big at this year’s 67th GRAMMY® Awards, airing on February 2nd at 7:00 pm EST. The label has hosted some of the most influential names in music and continues this legacy with zeitgeist front-runners like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, both of whom received ‘Big Four’ category nominations, setting a historic record for the label. Island Records obtained 17 total nominations, also including Brittany Howard, Carín León, and Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By The Film (Deluxe).
Sabrina Carpenter’s nominations include “Best New Artist,” “Record of the Year” and “Best Pop Solo Performance” for her caffeinated hit “Espresso,” along with a “Best Remixed Recording” nomination for the Mark Ronson x FNZ Working Late Remix of the track. She also received a “Song of the Year” nomination for her explosive follow-up “Please, Please, Please,” and “Album of the Year,” “Best Pop Vocal Album,” and “Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical” for the lively, chart-topping Short n’ Sweet.
Chappell Roan (Amusement Records | Island Records) scored nominations for “Best New Artist,” “Record of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” and “Best Pop Solo Performance” for the anthemic “Good Luck Babe!,” as well as “Album of the Year” and “Best Pop Vocal Album” for the powerful, dynamic The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.
5x GRAMMY-winning Brittany Howard strikes again with her 17th nomination for “Best Alternative Music Album” for What Now, while Carín León (Socios Music LLC | Virgin Music Group | Island Records) receives her first nomination with Boca Chueca Vol. 1 in the “Best Música Mexicana Album (including Tejano)” category. Additionally, the album Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired By The Film (Deluxe) (Tuff Gong | Island Records) was nominated for “Best Reggae Album.”
