Hard-hitting music emerges from a long-term friendship in Compass & Cavern. Will Timbers and Chris Fruci have made music together for over a decade. Through Denver-based alt-rock band Compass & Cavern, the duo sets forth their “deep thoughts, reflections, wild dreams, frustrations, strange stories, and more.”
In “This Time,” released today, Compass & Cavern explores the painful process of recognizing and coming to terms with a relationship ending.
Timbers, the lead singer, said he wrote the song after watching his friends go through breakups during the pandemic. More time together meant more time to discover flaws that just couldn’t be reconciled. The single covers both partners’ perspectives as they separately resign to the same conclusion: What they thought would be forever is coming to an end.

Raw, belted vocals shine in this single. They burst with passion and emotion, heartache almost palpable. Compass & Cavern’s modern progressive rock styling means massive synths and dynamic instrumental riffs showcasing musicianship. “This Time” comes to life in a matching music video by award-winning, Atlanta-based cinematographer Jeremy Oliver Miller.
