Bloom Twins Sing, Drop “Beats Not Bombs”

To celebrate International Peace Day on September 21, Bloom Twins released “Beats Not Bombs.” The London-based duo moved to the U.K. from Ukraine when they were 16 years old. The identical twins, Anna and Sonia Kuprienko, have been making waves with their dark pop music since 2014.

It might seem like a catchy tune, but it carries the weight of our feelings about the war in Ukraine. Let’s create beats, not bombs, let’s build and not destroy. Stand together with us, with Ukraine. Stand against war, violence and tyranny.

~ Bloom Twins

This anthemic track includes upbeat chants (“drop beats, not bombs!”) with an infectious beat and catchy chorus. The song is boppy but has a serious message surrounding the toll of war on mental health: “Tryna find a place to hide from the war inside of my own mind.”

The twins’ answer? Embrace the power of music and dance it out.

Kids repeat it at home,
Play that d*mn song
That makes you dance in the mirror
Hear the voice in your head
Getting you up from your bed
Mind is getting so much clearer

~ “Beats Not Bombs”

Bloom Twins said, “Our message doesn’t end with the track.” Now, they’ve partnered with War Child, which works to support affected youth in areas of war and conflict.

Anna and Sonia have a solid reputation for using their music for good. They sought to destigmatize talking about mental health with their single “Talk To Me,” and they’ve worked with will.i.am and Katy Perry as a part of the Imagine campaign, run by UNICEF. And just last year they performed to fundraise aid for Ukraine at the Roundhouse, organized by Fabien Riggal and Secret Cinema.

With hits like “High On Beat” and their previous single “Drunk and Loud,” more is bound to come from the duo. Stay tuned and support Bloom Twins’ cause on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok
