An incandescent journey is the easiest way to describe the world-changing album. Lastlings have made an irreversible mark with their newest sophomore album, Perfect World. Last month, the group released its most thoughtful 12-track masterpiece to the world. The themes heavily align with feelings that we can all relate to. A clear and well-intended addition to the Perfect World that Lastlings has opened up.

The lead song on the album, “Holding Me Like Water,” starts with Amy, the sibling duo’s vocalist. Her angelic sound joins the electric production of Josh’s, marking the first taste of the blend that the two have to offer. Together, they create a pop-electronic vibe that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Then “Perfect World” captures listeners, hence being the title track. Within the song lie confessions of longing and wishing for a world with someone who has left to grow.

“In a perfect world, I’ll have every chance

To love myself and feel alive again

And if we’ve grown apart, then it won’t be over, mm

Cause I’ve spent many moments learning and growing on my own”

~ “Perfect World” Lastlings

“Better Off Without You” sets off mini electronic constellations. Josh changes the feel of the album by incorporating a jamming element combined with the mellifluous tone of Amy’s voice. “Better Off Without You” switches the narrative, adding realization to the equation of the many mixed emotions you feel on the album. “Noise” jumps out with its high and energetic nature, making it a classic EDM-pop tune. “Out My Head” nosedives into an entrancing pop chorus sure to be stuck in your mind all day. “Get What You Want” fires up the album with a passionate romance song. “Let You In” brightens the sound, keeping the steady beat and pace with a light and airy feel.

“Learning To Love” demands a groovy beat in its first few seconds. Immediately after the switch between the waves of beats and steady pound, the song is a dance classic, and the beat drops into an epic drive as Amy sings.

“I’m still learning to love

Learning to love you right

(Love you right)”

~ “Learning To Love” Lastlings

Leaving behind the impact of “Learning To Love,” “Gravity” brings listeners back to earth and ground their ears with its stable and consistent sound. But just as you get comfortable, “Closer (Interlude)” shoots you back into the stars. The production feels extraterrestrial and new, making it an extreme taste-breaker in between the two songs.

“What Good Am I” reminds listeners of Amy’s steady vocals, which only seem to blend perfectly with Joshe’s production. Then “Far From Falling” closes the album; an inspirational chant and sound bring together the final notes of the album.

The siblings will embark on their North American tour on September 14th with special guest Running Touch. See details and ticket information and learn more about the Lastlings on their linktree.
