‘Boy in Blue’ Is a Haunting New Track from Girl Scout

Swedish band Girl Scout is digging further into their new era with the release of “Boy in Blue.” 

The song is a catchy pop-rock tune with an emotional bridge. The guitar riff shines throughout the song, serving as the anchor for the cutting lyrics.

With the song, Girl Scout released a new music video. Watch it below: 

Featuring aesthetically graining camera work that follows the band and a ghost (made from a bedsheet) through the night. The video is a product of the devastating chorus:

Vocalist Emma Jansson shared more on the song: 

Boy in Blue’ embodies the feeling of being stuck in a relationship. It’s about growing apart and realizing you are completely different people that really don’t have much in common other than your infatuation with each other, and losing your own sense of self during that relationship. It is truly heartbreaking coming to that realization.

“Boy in Blue” is the second single from their recently announced sophomore EP. Granny Music will be out on Sept. 27. 

The first single, “Monster,” was released in May. The song also came with an accompanying video — this one a bit more somber to match the melancholy melody of the track. Watch it here:

The four band members met while studying jazz at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Since then, they released their first EP, Real Life Human Garbage, in February.

On the upcoming EP, the band is planning to push themselves further sonically, while still keeping in touch with their roots. They explain:

There’s some heartland-sounding stuff going on, and there’s a power ballad, and then of course we have a couple rockers in there, too. We wanted to explore some new ground without abandoning the foundation we built with the first EP.
