Erika Sirola’s New Single, “End of The Day,” Drops In Celebration of Signing With Elektra Records

Today, Elektra Records officially announced signing Erika Sirola by dropping her new single, “End of The Day.” Erika Sirola is a 23-year-old Finnish artist who landed her first record deal at twelve years old, and by seventeen, she was traveling through the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe to record. Throughout her travels, Sirola gradually shaped a singular musical identity informed by a variety of music genres. From art-pop to techno to the more esoteric edges of folk, jazz and experimental music, Erika is not afraid to mix genres and musical stylings to create a unique sound that’s all her own.

“End of The Day” revolves around a time in her life when Erika struggled to put down roots and hold onto relationships. Erika’s descriptive lyrics paint a beautiful visual portraying her emotions during this time. The first lyrics of the song embody Erika’s struggles with maintaining relationships, as she sings about how, “I plant plastic palm trees/ ‘Cause they don’t die on me.” The rasp and softness of Erika’s voice adds another layer to the song, as she puts her thoughts and feelings on display.

As far as the instrumental, the track opens in stark simplicity, with just a piano and the din of conversation, in what sounds like a café, accompanied by Erika’s voice. Halfway through the song, there is a sudden switch to a whirlwind of fast and frantic beats signifying Erika letting go of these emotions and putting them out into the world with confidence. She is unafraid to acknowledge her feelings, as opposed to the beginning of the song, where she seemed more subtle and almost timid in admitting how she was feeling.

Overall, Erika Sirola’s debut, “End of The Day,” showcases the artist’s expansive creativity and the potential to take the music world by storm.
