‘Dreamers’ is inspired by the futility that musicians feel in the pursuit of success… for most artists, the dream is to become successful in their craft. This song is about dreams not coming true and falling short of your goals. It’s about the personal sacrifices that artists often have to make in the pursuit of success and how for most of us, will gladly continue with the struggle, knowing that the dream is largely unattainable.

Roye Trout On ‘Dreamers’

Opening with the line “is it alright to dream,” the alternative rock single “Dreamers” cements itself as a safe haven for those who dare to try. Created by Vietnamese/Chinese-Canadian singer-songwriter Roye Trout, the track is an optimistic bop with all the right ingredients added into the mix. Full of hopeful lyrics and incredible instrumentals, here is an inside look into what makes the song tick.

Like most alternative rock staples, what makes the single standout is the incredible guitar work by James Brown. Comprised of chords with crunchy tones, the six-stringed instrument provides a pulsating backbone to the track. Impressive yet straightforward leads add to the fun and give grit to the clean atmosphere. Though indebted to the guitar, what makes “Dreamers” such a catchy powerhouse is its ability to let every instrument have its moment to shine. The groovy organ played by Jeremy Coulter adds crisp sonic space, while Pat Power’s drumming creates tremendous energy to an already energetic song. Colin Wysman’s bass and Roye Trout’s relaxed vocals also fit perfectly into the mix, never overpowering the other instruments yet still sounding musically profound.

Lively and all-around boisterous, Roye Trout’s “Dreamers” is a rocking good time with each listen. For more news, be sure to stay tuned to Glasse Factory.
